Sexting and teens are two things that should not ever be mixed together because of the serious consequences that it results in. In the essay The Risks of Sending Sexual Material via Cell Phone written by Susan Carney, and the video clip Sexting is Illegal, provided by YouTube both show that Sexting is irrelevant and very costly. In the video the teen speaks about his personal encounter with the sharing of a sexual text message which was very costly on his behalf. He was charged with distribution of child pornography, and is now a registered sex offender. In the essay written by Susan Carney she speaks about the same issue where teens do not realize what they can be charged with by Sexting. Also in the video the teen speaks about the changes in his life that he has now encountered after he was charged for Sexting. He had to drop out of college and move out of his home because it was too close to a school. in result of him having to move out and live on his own has been very costly to him because he is still very young and has to live with being known as a sex offender for 20 years off his life. Sexting in general should be banned from everyone because not only does it affect the sender but the person involved in the message. Sexting is very costly and to have to live for 20 years with the charge of a sex offender in your records is miserable. If you do not have the attention that you may want Sexting is not the answer. There are many other ways to seek attention from others that does not involve demeaning yourself. In conclusion, it is clear from the examples above that Sexting and teens is very costly, and should be put to an immediate stop before other teens out there are exposed to the threats that it holds against teens.

Short Story Post

The Man Who Loved Flowers

The thematic connection I found with one of the few short stories that I have read in class was with The Man Who Loved Flowers by Stephen King. The picture on the left is a man who has one side of his face burned off while the other side of his face is unharmed. The picture on the left makes a great connection with the story because the character in The Dark Knight faced is half burnt off while the other side is in perfect condition. The man in the other story comes off as a nice person who is buying flowers for a loved one but then in the end the reader finds out that the love of the man is dead assuming that he killed her years ago. In the story The Man Who Loved Flowers turns out to be a serial killer who kills women who he first assumes was his past love but once he has a good look at the girl whom turns out not to be his love he kills them with a hammer. The picture shows that this man has two completely different personalities because as soon as he has killed the person he returns to himself a very happy man. Another reason why I felt that this picture has a great connection to the story because when one hasn’t seen the whole of a person meaning their true colours they don’t really know much about that person. If you were to look at only one side if the picture let’s take the burnt side of his face you may think that he is only evil. This is the same thing with The Man Who Loved Flowers because if one only knew that he was a serial killer who kills women who look like his former love then one may think that he was always like that. This was a perfect picture to describe the theme of the story because it was portrayed to make the reader think that this man was all good until the very end of the story, and the picture is of a two faced man. This is like the split personality of the character in The Man Who Loved Flowers.
